How to Create a Blog News Site for your Club

How to Create a FREE Wordpress  News Blog Site Through Toastmasters International

Toastmasters International has gone ahead and made it easy to create a place for members of your club to add news about your club. Blogging has replaced the Newsletter because it is easy for anyone to access and read the news on their personal device or computer rather than downloading a huge file. It is also easy to add administrators so your officers can add news fulfilling the requirement of Newsletter editor or helping out with the Newsletter or website. This requirement in your Competent Leader manual is always hardest to achieve.

Simply follow the instructions on this page at Toastmasters International

You can also download the pdf file to distribute to all your club members. In the instructions it teaches you to:

  • Sign up at
  • Learn proper Toastmaster Policies and Protocol for creating your club's web presence
  • What Wordpress Themes to use
  • Where to access the proper Masthead for your site
  • Designing with Colors on Your Website
  • Adding Widgets

A great sample of a wordpress Blog News site is my club Speak to Inspire Toastmasters. Check it out and hopefully you too will be inspired to create your clubs outlet for great News.

If you have any questions or difficulties I will be happy to help you out. Contact at Just Ask Tuula

Tillsonburg Toastmasters is in the News

Tilllsonburg Taostmasters is a new club and has recently been in the Tillsonburg News. Check it out!

What's Happening at Grimsby Toastmasters

Saturday July 25 was a hot one for Grimsby Toastmasters. Once again we set up a booth all day on the main street during our town’s summer festival – Happening at the Forty. It is always an interesting experience trying to engage people who are looking at the other booths selling things and other community groups. I am pleased to say that all of the volunteers did a great job and we ended up with contact information from a number of people who wanted to learn more. Since there is no time like the present, they were all contacted by email first thing on Monday morning and invited to our next club meeting!

The executive were particularly excited to unveil our new signs. They made it very clear to people who we were. Of course there is always the challenge of people not knowing what Toastmasters is, but getting that information out is one of the reasons we have the booth.

I challenge you to look around your own community and see if there are opportunities to get your club out in front of the general public. How about a fall festival, a farmers’ market, or even a job fair? Encourage your members to strike a committee to help with the organization so it doesn’t rest with one person (I have learned my lesson).

A big thank you to all of my volunteers including our Area Director Saima Malik for all the time and effort they put into making our booth a success.

Toastmasters Share Skills with Stouffville Teenagers

Stouffville Toastmasters Club was in the Stouffville Sun-Tribune News for running a free youth leadership program for Stouffville’s young people during eight weeks this spring.

Twenty-one teenagers learned how to write and deliver prepared speeches with confidence, how to give positive, constructive peer feedback and have practised the art of impromptu speaking. Read more about this great article at Stouffville Sun-Tribune.

Open House Shows Sault Toastmaster Clubs Are Open for Business!

We had heart. We had passion...We had ONE HUNDRED in attendance at the inaugural Sault Area Toastmasters Open House on Feb 9, 2015 -- a collaborative effort of four Sault Ste. Marie clubs: OLG Lotto Talkers & Dr. Roberta Bondar (corporate clubs) and Algoma Toastmasters & Sault College Communicators (open clubs). Held at Sault College, approximately 100 people (incl. 14 local Toastmasters) with varied interests and backgrounds ventured out on a frigid evening to attend this event. Admission was courtesy of our umbrella organization “Superior Speakers”, to which all four clubs belong.

Toastmaster John Clement kept the audience entertained and interactive. Some in attendance even jumped right into Table Topics without hesitation. New members or not, we worked hard to advertise, advertise, and advertise, pushed for media resources and in the end, we got our message out there. What matters most is that 100 people who knew nothing about Toastmaster are now IN THE KNOW! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Our Open House Consultant, Vitaliy Fursov, was an invaluable resource along the way. Special thanks to our spectacular Open House planners and speakers: Leeann Wallenius, Allison Martin, Vladimir Yasenovskiy, Sarah Huckson, Pat Bolduc, Chelsea Osesky, Troy Woods, John Clement, Sean Clement, Susan Hunter, Jennifer Barton, Ryan Walker, George McVittie, Micki Wilding, Jennifer Barton, Craig Kohler, Lan Gao. Our next step is to document lessons learned, what went well, what went even better than expected, and how others can learn from us.

Our local Shaw TV station filmed the entire event along with interviews with Toastmasters, which will be aired all week. Check out some of our media coverage.
