I first want to thank District Director Cathy Herschell for honouring me with the appointment of District 86 Historian. I also want to thank previous District 86 Historian David T. Shaw for his many years of service in this role.

So far as my own relevant background is concerned, I have an Honours BA Degree in History from York University. I also earned certifications in both Archives Management and Records Management and served as both Regional Archivist and Corporate Records Manager for the Regional Municipality of Peel during my 34-year career at that institution. My most recent role in Toastmasters was as District 86 Program Quality Director (2015-2016).

The District Director and I will be working to document specific responsibilities with respect to information/document/records management for both this position (Historian) and also for clubs. I do want to emphasize that responsibility for managing club records will remain with the clubs themselves. More on this in the future.

You may be aware that July 1, 2018 will mark the 10th Anniversary of District 86! We are looking for “a few good Toastmasters" to coordinate recognition of this important event! It could even be an HPL project for a person willing to head up this initiative!

Are you interested? Are you keen to see our history celebrated? Want to get involved and have a fun experience with other Toastmasters? Just email me historian@toastmasters86.org to indicate your interest - and we're also accepting ideas on HOW to celebrate our Anniversary, so put on your Thinking Caps!
