Message from Division L Director

Hello everyone,

We’re immensely excited to bring to you our 1st ever Division L Marketing Expo. In keeping with the Toastmasters tradition of personal development, the event should serve as a valuable learning experience for us all. The morning will be geared towards Toastmasters member development whereas the afternoon will be directed more towards the general public. However, everyone is welcome to attend for the entire day if they so wish. The venue will be Niagara College in the, always beautiful, Niagara-on-the-Lake region. The event will take place on October 27th beginning with registration at 8:30 am, lunch at 11:30 and then afternoon open house commencing at 12:30. The morning will provide us with a number of useful contest workshops such as judging and evaluation skills, as well as a special guest from District 10 hosting a presentation on winning speech contest skills. We’ll follow that up with our 11:30 networking lunch, and then the afternoon Open house which is open to all, so everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring their friends.

Additionally, the afternoon will feature a special guest from Ohio. This guest is an accomplished speaker who will discuss how she went about applying for a TED Talk as well as what is necessary to get chosen for the program. Graciously, she has agreed to give her talk for us which will be enlightening for all.

We’re looking for a few volunteers for the day. Specifically, we need 3 members to give 5-7 minute speeches, 1 or 2 evaluators, and 5 members to participate in the Table Topics. Please email me if you’re interested in helping out.

As Division L director one of the most important things to me is that we all make the most out of the opportunities that Toastmasters provides. I think that this event is one of those great chances where we all stand to gain and grow a lot together. I’m looking forward to having you all there with us.
