Message from the Area 57 Director
St. Catharines packs a lot of punch for a small city – bordering beautiful Lake Ontario and the world-famous Welland Canal, sheltered by the Niagara Escarpment, graced by 1,000 acres of parks & gardens and surrounded by vineyards, and having a fascinating history dating back to Loyalist times (including serving as a station on the Underground Railroad).
Our Toastmasters clubs also pack a lot of punch – visit us and see what we’re all about! Our members are friendly & enthusiastic -- they're ready to help you achieve whatever goals you have in mind. I look forward to meeting you.
On May 31, 2017 Garden City Toastmasters, the oldest club in Ontario, celebrated their 65th anniversary with a special event at Club Capri in Thorold. This was an amazing and historic accomplishment, and a great night for both the club and our Toastmasters community. Guest speaker Roger Caesar, semifinalist at the Toastmasters World Championship of Speaking, spoke about the love we all share for our fellow members, and St. Catharines City Councillor Mike Britton brought a message from the City and helped the club unveil its new banner.
We are proud to have such a successful club in our Area! The strength of Toastmasters lies in the global community we're all part of and the support we can give each other on our learning journey.
As my term is drawing to a close, I'd like to say what a pleasure it has been to serve as the Area 57 Director. I've developed my leadership and speaking skills, and made many new friends who I look forward to seeing often in the future as I continue to work within our organization in whatever places my personal journey takes me to.
