An important part of Toastmasters training is learning about leadership. And the best way to become skilled at leadership is to experience it. Because of this, the electoral process is the heart of the district calendar. Choosing leaders or choosing to be a leader begins here…at nomination and at the ballot.
Fall - Communication & Leadership Award 2011
Jane Roy and Glen Pearson have been involved with the London and Area Food Bank for almost 25 years and are currently Co-Executive Directors.
AND A CLUB WAS BORN
The Meadowvale Speakwell Club comprising of 25 active GE employees (and growing) celebrated their new charter on June 29, 2011.
District 86 Awards Recipients
The District has Awards for Toastmasters who have displayed exemplary achievements in the role they filled and they are honoured at the Fall Conference. This year’s recipients are:
Division Governor of the Year, Melanee Jessup, DTM;
Area Governor of the Year, Stephen Dow, ACG, CL;
Club Coach of the Year, Janice McDonald, DTM;
Publicist of the Year, IAD Abdul-Rahman, ACS, ALB;
President of the Year, Eric Chan, CC;
Toastmaster of the Year, Karim Premji, DTM.
FreeToastHost is changing!
Bo Bennett, the developer who created FreeToastHost 1.0 eight years ago, has been commissioned by Toastmasters International (TI) to develop a next generation of FreeToastHost called version 2.0. The introduction of the new FreeToastHost 2.0 and the corresponding new toastmastersclubs.org domain were done to coincide with the launch of the new Branding initiative unveiled at the International Convention in August, 2011.
Project Zoom
I’d like to showcase “Yvonne and Jim Price” and their Project Zoom. Yvonne is a member of Port Credit TM (#1474), Area 43. Project Zoom is a movement to increase Canadians’ knowledge about their country and help those in need.
Clinton Communicators Toastmasters Club is coming to Bayfield!
The group will be holding an Open House at the Bayfield Lions’ Community Building on Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
