Stretch Your Limits!

You have become comfortable speaking in front of your club but you didn't join Toastmasters to be comfortable. You joined to stretch your limits.

Now you can do this. Become part of our speakers bureau and take the opportunity to serve your community by speaking in front of community service clubs, student groups, safety associations and more.

This year we are going to work on developing opportunities for people to speak in front of larger groups and non-Toastmasters groups.  The idea is to try to generate such opportunities (initially) with community organizations such as Kinsmen, Optimists, Rotary etc. and use those opportunities to spread beyond that base.

Toastmasters is a not-for-profit organization so any speaking engagements we help you to arrange or that you do under the Toastmasters brand must be without any contractual fee but speaking in front of a larger, non-Toastmaster group is just the beginning.  These speaking opportunities will do three things:

  1. It will expose the people where you live and work to the skills people learn as a Toastmaster.
  2. It will allow you to practice your skills: as Darrin LaCroix says, "The way to become a professional speaker is 'practice practice practice'."
  3. Done well, and regularly, it will lead to contacts that can turn into professional speaking opportunities. (so long as you don't ever charge for your services while speaking under the Toastmasters name.)
