PATHWAYS is making us change the way we talk about education in Toastmasters. But more than that, it’s making us think about it differently. Too many people’s surprise not much has changed at our meetings. So, what has changed?
One thing that is changing is how we talk to our new members about our educational program. We are no longer talking about advancing through the education program speech-by-speech and role-by-role. Instead, as in the “wild” outside Toastmasters, we are talking about advancing through a series of projects, stacked on top of each other
On the surface, many of these projects seem to be just a series of speeches and tasks but when you look deeper you see another reality, a reality in which the education system has evolved towards a multifaceted, partly online experience
The question is, are you willing to see the potential of Pathways? Are you willing to look beyond first impressions to give the system a chance? Are you willing to stand up for Pathways at each and every club meeting this year?
We are here to help you understand the system better and to help you maneuver smoothly through your PATH. How are we going to accomplish that?
We are getting our own website connected to the District 86 site. Feel free to bookmark this site and give the address to members of your club. Here you will find links to helpful tutorials as well as a blog (much like this article) explaining and discussing concepts in PATHWAYS. What more will you find there you wonder?
You will find;
− Blog entries addressing some of your own concerns with Pathways
− Mini-tutorial for different aspects of Pathways
− Mini-tutorials for BaseCamp Managers
− Links to effective help articles
− Explanation of how to become a DTM through Pathways
− Links to live webinars for Pathways
− Links to recorded webinars if you could not be part of the meeting yourself
− Questions and answers
− Contact information if you still are having issues and need help
Our goal is to help you during this transition and it is our hope this will make it just a little bit easier.
No matter where you are on your journey, I want to help you start down your new PATH with confidence. Together, we can all use Pathways to reach our goals
