• At this upcoming District 86 Annual Conference 2025 the theme is “Rooted In Leadership”.

One of the events our conference attendees look forward to each year is the Authors’ Corner, where local Toastmasters have the chance to showcase their books and inspire others to “Rooted In Leadership”.

Eugene Ionesco wrote “A writer never has vacation. For a writer, life consists of either writing or thinking about writing.” Well, here is your chance to give back to the Toastmasters around you and to make a difference.

During the conference, a table will be available in one of the lobbies to showcase, discuss, and sell your books.

All applications for the Authors’ Corner will be reviewed for relevance, approval, and adherence to the Toastmasters Core Values. Books with political, religious, or other potentially inflammatory subjects may be rejected.

The Conference Committee accepts proposals for Authors to present their books and participate in the Author’s Panel.

Authors are encouraged to apply to hold workshops if their books fit the profile for the expected workshops for the conference. To apply to present a workshop, see the separate application.

Author’s Corner Expectations and Information:

• All Authors will set up their table area with books and other marketing materials.
  • No hard selling, pitching, or promoting yourself or your brand is allowed outside the Authors Corner
  •   Audible equipment such as loudspeakers, gongs, and similar must not be used.
• Authors are required to register for the conference.
• Authors at the conferences are required to cover all their expenses. No financial compensation or reimbursement of any expenses will be provided. There is no reimbursement for conference registration, equipment or materials.

Persons not eligible to participate in the Author’s Corner:

The following individuals are not eligible to participate at the Authors Corner at the District Conference:

• Members competing in any Area, Division, or District speech contest
• Current, nominated, and any potential District Leaders: Area Directors, Division Directors, and other District Leaders
• 2026 District 86 Conference Committee Members and Speech Contest Officials

PHOTOS

To avoid any delays when announcing the participants of Authors Corner, all proposals must include a publishable headshot photo. The image should be in jpg file format and no smaller than 800 x 800 pixels. Only applications with photos will be considered.

All presenters must sign the Toastmasters Photo/Video Release Form and include it with their application.
