Spring Conference 2022 Presenters Application
District 86 Toastmasters welcomes applications from qualified members to present an Educational Session at our Virtual 2022 Conference, April 22 to 24.
Here are some examples for Educational Workshops topics:
- Speech Writing 101
- Hybrid Communication and Leadership Skills
- Hybrid Engagement skills
- Storytelling
- Organizational skills
- Project your personality
- Vocal Variety
- Communication and Leadership in Project Management
- How to write your introduction according to the meeting theme
- Social Media
The Selection Committee will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:
- Must be a paid member of District 86
- Applicant’s qualifications and experience
- Presentation’s completeness, clarity, and audience appeal
- Level of audience engagement and interactive participation
- Workshop relevance to conference theme:” New Chapter, New Beginnings”
- Take-away benefits for the audience
- Adaptability to the virtual format
Please note:
No hard selling, pitching or promoting yourself or your products or services is allowed during or after your presentation, and no financial compensation or reimbursement will be given.
Instead, we will post the profiles of or otherwise reference the selected presenters on our Conference website, District 86’s Facebook and other social media channels, at promotional events and in our printed Conference Program (received by 200+ Conference attendees). Presenters will also be featured in at least one email sent to our entire District 86 membership.
Any authors wishing to promote their books at the Conference will be directed to the Author’s Corner chair.
Other Information:
Presenters are responsible for preparing and producing their own visual aids, including any virtual/soft copy documents/handouts. Presenters must also be comfortable and competent in the use of Zoom, breakout rooms, polling, etc.
Selected presenters must use the Toastmasters-approved template for all electronic presentations, e.g. PowerPoint slides provided by Education Chair. Please read here: https://toastmasters86.org/program-quality-director-resource-page/
Presenters are required to make their presentation accessible. Please read the 2021-2022 Speech Contest Rulebook https://www.toastmasters.org/resources/2021-2022-speech-contest-rulebook-english which is in effect from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022 to ensure that your participation as a presenter does not impact your ability to be a contestant.
All selected presenters are responsible for providing two Activators to assist with their presentation. Below is what is expected from the activators.
- Activator registers for conference.
- Gets introduction from Workshop Presenter ahead of the conference.
- Speaks with the presenter prior to the workshop, confirms signals to ensure the presentation ends on time.
- Introduces Workshop Presenter giving personal and Toastmasters background.
- Times the presenter and signals when the presenter needs to start to wrap up, 10 minutes before the end of the workshop.
- Signals the Workshop Presenter at 5 minutes before the end of the workshop.
- Thank the Workshop Presenter.
- Instructs and asks the audience to fill in a digital workshop evaluation form.
Successful applicants are required to provide a high-resolution photo (resolution should be 1536 x 1024 pixels minimum).
The deadline to apply is midnight January 22, 2022
