And today, I’m going to make it simple with an easy-to-remember acronym: BLOG—Build, Lead, Organize, Grab!
Build Your Blog Type
- First, choose your blog type. Are you writing:
- A personal blog? (Reflections, life lessons, experiences)
- A niche blog? (Technology, leadership, public speaking)
- An informative blog? (Guides, how-tos, case studies)
- A storytelling blog? (Experiences wrapped in engaging narratives)
Your blog type will determine your tone, structure, and audience.
L – Lead with Strong Content
Great blogs provide value.
Here is what to include:
- A compelling title – It should spark curiosity!
- A hook – Grab your reader’s attention in the first sentence.
- A clear message – What do you want your readers to learn or feel?
- Engaging visuals – Images, infographics, and icons boost readability.
- A call to action – What do you want readers to do next?
Here is what NOT to Iinclude:
- Personal addresses or contact details
- Private or sensitive information
- Names of people without permission
- Unverified or misleading information
O – Organize for Readability
Nobody likes a wall of text! Break it down:
- Short paragraphs – Keep it easy to scan
- Bullet points – Highlight key takeaways
- Headings & subheadings – Guide your readers
G – Grab a Platform & Publish
Once your blog is ready, where do you publish?
- Your own website or Medium?
- LinkedIn for professional blogs?
- Guest posts on relevant platforms?
- Social media like Facebook or Instagram?
Find where your audience is and share your insights!
For the Toastmasters website, connect with your club VP of education or any officer from the District and you will be able to use the Toastmaster platform to publish your blogs.
